Buddha of Nothingness

The Buddha of Heaven floats upon the night
Through him streaming its plum-dark light,
White stars turn gently upon his breast
Sparkling and glittering over the peaceful west;
The Buddha breathes in his wisdom-sleep,
Stars flow through him, lanterns of the deep.
Around his body gleam jewels as of fire,
Pure-light jewels beyond all desire,
The wisdom-jewels flower and burn
Upon the Buddha of beauty, who does not yearn;
The moon rises silver on his eyes and face,
O the Serene One; and her silver leaves no trace—
The Buddha of Nothingness floats the silent sky,
Pure-moon Buddha: he is all, he is none, drifting by.
